  • As is, the Sarasota US41 corridor of 4.5 miles, for the FDOT, is in 4 separate sections with separate completion schedules that need brought together for coordinated mobility flow.
    • 14th to USF:  MPO MEC priority funding.
    • Bayfront Connectivity Osprey through Gulfstream: MPO CMS funding.
    • Fruitville Road: City’s collected impact and associated fees.
    • 10th to 14th: FDOT work plan in progress with federal/state funds.
  • MPO by amendment could advance calendar for projects that are read.
  • Finite federal/state money allocated for Sarasota and Manatee Counties MPO.
  • Current economic environment should mean lower overall costs calendared earlier.
  • Creates momentum – 10th to 14th completion is a catalyst to accelerate completion of the remainder of the North Trail Revitalization and Bayfront Connectivity Plan.
  • Stimulates North Trail positive infill.
  • Capitalizes on very favorable acceptance of the Five Points roundabout,  anticipated as well for the two Ringling Blvd roundabouts  at Palm and Pineapple.
  • Government personnel changes can slow progress.
  • MPO priorities once set do not preclude further public discussion to amend project.
